Is posting your blog to all those sites like digg worth it

I have posted a few of my blogs on sites like digg etc. I personally havent seen any results from any of the postings. I even used ping goat to ping my blogs nothing in the way of traffic. So in my experience its not worth doing, however utilizing googles webmaster tools has helped me get some visitors to my blogs. How about you out there? any ideas that can drive traffic for real?
